FAQ
What is the maximum file size?
12 MB per PDF. Metadata is stored in the file header, so even large PDFs are only read and written in chunks. The limit is for consistency with our other tools.
Is my PDF sent to a server?
No. Reading and saving metadata happens in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
What metadata can I change?
You can edit the title, author, subject, and keywords. These are the standard fields most PDF readers and search engines use. Other metadata (e.g. creation date) is not editable here.
Why would I edit metadata?
To make the PDF easier to find (search engines and file managers use title and keywords), to credit the author, or to add a short description (subject). It's also useful for organizing a library of PDFs.
What if the PDF had no metadata before?
The fields may be empty when you first load the file. You can type in whatever you want and save. The new PDF will have that metadata stored.
