FAQ
Why is SVG not supported?
SVG is vector-based. This tool resizes raster images (PNG, JPEG, WebP) by redrawing them at new dimensions.
What is the maximum file size?
12 MB per image.
Is my image sent to a server?
No. Resizing is done in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
Can I keep aspect ratio?
Yes. Use the option to lock aspect ratio. Then entering width or height updates the other automatically.
Does upscaling an image improve quality?
No. Enlarging an image beyond its original size (upscaling) cannot add detail that was not there. The result looks blurry or pixelated. AI upscaling tools (like Topaz Gigapixel) can synthesize detail, but this tool does standard bilinear resizing.
What is the difference between pixel dimensions and physical size?
Pixel dimensions (e.g. 1920×1080) are absolute and fixed. Physical size (inches or cm) depends on the display or print DPI. A 300×300 px image at 300 DPI prints at 1×1 inch. The same image at 72 DPI (screen) displays at about 4.2×4.2 inches.
What is 72 DPI vs 300 DPI for print?
Screen images are typically 72–96 PPI. Print requires 300 DPI for sharp results. To print a 4×6 inch photo at 300 DPI, the image needs to be at least 1200×1800 px. Resize to those pixel dimensions before printing.
What are standard sizes for email attachments?
Most email clients recommend keeping images under 1 MB. Resize photos to 1200×900 or smaller for email. Inline images in email templates should be 600 px wide to fit most clients.
What are recommended sizes for different social platforms?
Instagram square: 1080×1080 px. Twitter/X post: 1200×675 px. Facebook post: 1200×630 px. LinkedIn: 1200×627 px. Pinterest: 1000×1500 px (2:3 ratio). YouTube thumbnail: 1280×720 px.
What is bicubic vs bilinear resampling?
Bilinear interpolation averages 4 neighboring pixels — fast but slightly less sharp. Bicubic uses 16 pixels — sharper edges and smoother gradients. The browser canvas uses bilinear by default. For production resizing, use ImageMagick or Sharp with -filter Lanczos for best quality.
How do I resize an image for a website (responsive images)?
Create multiple sizes and use the HTML srcset attribute:
. The browser picks the best size for the screen. Serve WebP for best performance.
Resizing vs compressing — which reduces file size more?
Both help. Resizing reduces pixel count, which directly reduces file size. Compressing (lowering quality) reduces file size for the same pixel count. For web images, resize to the actual display size first, then compress. Both together give the best results.
