FAQ
Why is SVG not supported?
SVG is vector-based and not drawn to a canvas the same way. This tool converts raster images (PNG, JPEG, WebP) to other raster formats or PDF.
What is the maximum file size?
12 MB per image. Larger files may cause the browser to slow down or run out of memory.
Is my image sent to a server?
No. All conversion happens in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
Can I convert to PDF?
Yes. Choose PDF as the output format. The image will be placed on a single page, sized to fit.
When should I use PNG vs JPEG?
Use PNG for screenshots, diagrams, logos, and images with transparency or text — PNG is lossless. Use JPEG for photos where some quality loss is acceptable in exchange for smaller files. JPEG does not support transparency.
What is WebP and why should I use it?
WebP is a modern image format by Google that produces smaller files than JPEG or PNG at similar quality. It supports transparency (like PNG) and lossy compression (like JPEG). All major browsers support WebP. It is the preferred format for web images.
Does converting JPEG to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG is lossless, but if you start from a lossy JPEG, the original compression artifacts are already baked in. Converting JPEG → PNG produces a larger file without recovering any quality.
How do I convert a transparent PNG to JPEG?
JPEG does not support transparency. When converting a transparent PNG to JPEG, the transparent areas will be filled with white by default. If you need transparency in a smaller format, use WebP instead.
What color space do converted images use?
The tool uses the browser's canvas, which operates in sRGB. CMYK images (common in print) will be converted to sRGB on upload. For print-accurate color profiles, use professional software like Adobe Photoshop.
Does conversion remove EXIF metadata?
Yes. The browser canvas does not preserve EXIF metadata (GPS location, camera model, date). The converted image will not contain the original metadata. Use a dedicated tool if you need to preserve EXIF.
What is the best format for web images?
WebP offers the best combination of file size and quality for web use. Use it as the primary format, with JPEG or PNG as a fallback for older environments. For icons and logos, SVG is best (though not converted here).
How does image-to-PDF work?
The image is placed on an A4-sized PDF page, scaled to fit. The PDF contains a single raster image — not vector graphics or searchable text. Use this for quickly creating a printable PDF from a photo or screenshot.
